Wastewater Services

The District provides wastewater collection and treatment services to customers within our service area (Security and a portion of Fountain, CO). The Sanitation District first constructed wastewater treatment infrastructure consisting of lagoons and mechanical treatment in 1954. The facility has been upgraded three times and requires regular additional maintenance until an upgraded facility can be constructed. Our staff of state certified plant and/or collection system operators work 24/7 to make sure that the system meets and exceeds all industry standards.

If you need to, you can sign up for wastewater service here.

Wastewater Rates

Wastewater rates and fees are based on an independent rate study, which analyzes our operations, maintenance and capital requirements and recommends rates to meet those requirements. The rate analysts present their analysis to our board of directors and generally recommend new rates every two years.

Regulations for wastewater treatment have become increasingly more stringent and complex across the country. These more stringent regulations are having a dramatic impact on the cost of wastewater treatment, both for operations and for capital improvements required to meet the regulations. Security Sanitation District is no different, and these increased costs are reflected in our customer’s monthly bills.
